Why Choose This Career Path

Growing up I always like to be different, not having the same or doing the exact things as others. Majority of the person I knew were nurses, business personnel’s, electrical engineers, doctors,  teachers and pharmacists. I wanted a profession that was not common, I think of myself as a good cook, I like professions in the health field and so I choose a dietician as I believe it incorporates both qualities. I also started out in college as a Restaurant Management major at Nassau Community College where I did a few nutrition classes and liked them. I realized that if I did a few more courses I could get a Dietary Management Certificate, and so went ahead with it. I thought of this as killing “one bird with two stone” as I did not have to spend any extra time just the exact 2 years at Nassau. It was during this time my nutrition teachers told me I could transfer to Queens College if I desired this profession and I was exited most of my credits transferred.

Started Queens College in spring of 2007 and graduated Spring 2011 was not as I expected, I would say a bit of a rough ride but still pressed on as this is my dream career. Currently I am not I dietitian as yet but I want by the year 2015 I will accomplish my goal of becoming a clinical dietician  and later on do a concentration in community health. I am determined and I know once I set my mind to anything I will succeed.
